Gift Ideas for Mature Teachers
73It can be difficult finding special teacher gifts for the mature and sophisticated teacher. With so many cute and fun teacher gifts available online for the young ones it can be frustrating trying to find something a little classier.
In this article I have presented a few ideas to help you come up with the perfect thank you gift!
History and Heraldry Gifts
History and Heraldry are an international award-winning gift company and have a wide range of teacher gifts that excel in providing sentimental and thought-provoking keepsakes. Not only are they extremely thoughtful but some of them are also really useful.
Take the special teacher shopper bag for example – a beautiful Art Deco/Mackintosh tulips design with the caption “Special Teacher – Teaching is a work of heart”. This handy shopping bag folds up neatly into a little pouch perfect for the handbag!
For a smart teacher gift that will be used in the classroom choose from either black and silver or silver and gold teacher ballpoint pens. These solid pens come in a lovely presentation box and will come in very useful indeed.
The teacher shopping trolley token is another novel yet useful present for your teacher. History and Heraldry’s shopping token has “Special teacher” on it and comes on a smart presentation card with teacher character traits on it such as “Strengths – Always respects other people’s opinions” and “Character – Thoughtful”.
The great thing about these teacher gifts is that they combine practical, useful items with pretty designs and sophisticated sentiments.
For something a little more decorative, try History and Heraldry’s “Written in stone” range. This ceramic teacher magnet is sure to make any teacher smile when they open the fridge come tea break time… On it are the words “Teachers plant seed of knowledge that will last forever.”
And that they do.

Nature's Beautiful Gifts
Why not give flowers, a plant or even plant seeds as a gift?
A bunch of fresh flowers from the florist is a lovely gift but can prove expensive. Though extremely pretty and professionally presented, they don't always last very long either.
Simplicity is key
A simple pot plant can bring just as much pleasure to your teacher. Not only will they enjoy it in its pot, they'll also be able to plant it in their gardens later on. A pot plant can be a very cost-effective yet memorable and special gift for your teacher.
For an even cheaper option, why not take a cutting from one of your own plants in the garden?
To jazz up a cheap brown plant pot, give it a lick of paint or wrap it in some colourful cellophane.
Jazzing up your gift
To make your potted flowers looks even more classy, try colour-coordinating your pot design. Try using similar coloured cellophane or foil.
Wrapping paper could be used but will soon get ruined when the plants are watered. If you can't find any cellophane or foil, see if you can find a colourful carrier bag you can cut up and use.
If you're feeling artistic, consider using sweet wrappers to collage onto the pot.
Unique pot plants
If you haven't got a plant or cuttings to spare, try making your own arrangement. All you'll need are a few flowers and an interesting pot to put them in.
Be adventurous. Quirky gifts are fun yet unique. What can you find around your house to use as a pot? A small watering can perhaps? Small containers can be picked up cheaply from all sorts of shops. Think outside the box - as long as it's waterproof and will be tall enough to fit your flowers in, it'll do just fine!

Fake flowers

Fake flowers will last forever and are a wonderful way to brighten up a teacher's desk without the hassle of keeping them watered.
You should be able to buy them ready in bunches, or singularly so you can choose your own combination.
There are many ways you can customise their look, too. For example, you can use string, bamboo or cellophane to decorate the bunch, or find a unique pot to put them in.
